15 Nov (Sat) 10:00 a.m. Cathedral of the Madelein. Cristina Garcia Banegas will give a lecture/demonstration masterclass on Latin America organ music. The masterclass is free and open to the public. Spread the word!
16 Nov (Sun) 8:00 p.m. Cathedral of the Madeleine. Cristina Garcia Banegas, is a professor and Chair of Organ Studies at The University Music School of Uruguay, offers the first concert for the 2008 Eccles Concert Series. (This concert was originally scheduled for Sept. 7.)
21 Nov (Fri) 7:30 p.m. Provo Central Stake Center (12th W & 5th N Provo) Utah Valley Chapter event. "Hugo Distler: a 20th Century Voice From the Past" lecture presented by Dr. Douglas E. Bush with assistance by Brian Mathias.
22 Nov (Sat) 8:00 p.m. Cathedral of the Madeleine. St. Cecilia's Day Concert with Spanish Renaissance music form the choir's November tour to Spain.
25 Nov (Tue) 7:30 p.m. Assembly Hall on Temple Square. Temple Square Performances presents Dr. Calvert Johnson, organist and harpsichordist, in a program of music by Asian composers. The recital is open to the public and free of charge. Dr. Johnson is Charles A. Dana Professor of Music and College Organist at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, and currently serves as National Treasurer for the American Guild of Organists. Program available here.

7 Feb (Sat) Pedals, Pipes & Pizza - a community outreach program specifically geared towards ages 5-18. Participants do not have to know how to play the piano or organ. Youth gets to play on different pipe organs, learn how they work and hear professional organists perform on these fine instruments. $5 per person towards the cost of the pizza. Children ages 8 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. |
